| During the communist days people caught listening to Rock N Roll and other foreign music were considered subversive and thrown in jail. In 1976 members of the underground rock band called The Plastic People of the Universe were charged with crimes against the state for staging a pop concert. Shortly after Charter 77 was created, an organization that reported on human rights abuses. One of it's spokespersons was Vaclav Havel who became president after the downfall of communism. |
