The Isthmus... Domino

April 18, 2016.

I was trying to escape the afternoon heat so I went to the Japanese fish market in San Felipe. Whatever the fisherman of Panama City have caught for the day you can buy here. You name it, Corvina, Tuna, Shark, Octupus, Razor Clams, Shrimp. The list goes on and on. The smell here is thick to say the least.

A friendly game of dominos at the Japanese fish market. April, 2016.

You can hear it before you see it. Smack! Smack! Smack! It's the formal but informal way to play dominos. It let's the other players know you have the upper hand. The games are quick. The tables are worn from the long play. Before I knew it, I found myself in a game. It's addicting, one game leads to two and then three before you know it an hour has passed and the heat of the day is dissipated. Cold beers go great with a game. I had a Panama Light. Most gamble a dollar or two. Sometimes it gets loud and usually jokes are made at someone else's expense. It can be intense.
